LocalLingo ("we," "our," or "us") provides an AI-powered language coaching application ("LocalLingo") as a standalone Android mobile application. Your privacy is a priority, and we have designed our application to collect only the minimum data necessary to provide and improve our service.
1. Data We Collect
- Profile and Account Information: When you register and sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive your basic account details from Google (email address, full name, and profile picture). During onboarding, we also collect your name, origin (used to localize greetings and accent styling), and your learning intent.
- Audio Data: When you use the voice coaching feature, we capture audio from your device's microphone. This audio is processed locally or streamed directly to the Google Gemini API for real-time translation and conversational coaching. We do not store or record your voice recordings on our servers.
- Payment and Transaction Data: We offer subscriptions and session packages via Google Play In-App Purchases (IAP). All financial transactions are processed securely by the Google Play Store. We do not collect or store credit card numbers or banking details; we only record payment transaction IDs, subscription tiers (weekly/monthly), and purchased session minutes to credit your account.
- Analytics and Diagnostics: We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor application performance, track user interactions (such as screen views, city selections, and learning interactions), log voice coaching quality metrics (connection latency, AI turns, token counts), and collect crash reports. This data is used solely to improve application performance and stability.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, personalize, and optimize our real-time AI voice coaching service.
- To manage user accounts, subscriptions, and credit session balances.
- To customize conversational greetings and styling based on your onboarding origin.
- To monitor technical performance, prevent abuse, and fix application bugs.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Analytics, and Crashlytics)
- Google Gemini API (Natural language and speech processing)
- Google Play Store (In-App Purchase billing and payment processing)
4. Data Retention
We retain your account profile (name, origin, intent), subscription status, and session metrics in our secure Firebase database as long as your account is active. Because raw audio files are streamed directly for real-time processing and are not stored, we do not retain voice recordings.
5. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data, including secure transmission (HTTPS/SSL), encryption, and strict database security rules (Firestore security controls).
6. Your Rights
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you. You may delete your account and associated profile data directly in the application or by contacting us.

Updates to this privacy policy will be posted within the LocalLingo application.
